I Madonnari Chalk Art 2022

I Madonnari 2022 was more special than other given the two year hiatus during the Covid years. Both as a community event and as an opportunity for some of the state’s finest chalk art painters to gather and do what they do best: create street art.

I’ve finally gotten to putting the finish touches on my versions of the chalk art. Every year my friend John Danner and I get together for the three-day weekend and have a lot of fun while photographing the artists as their paintings emerge from the asphalt canvasses.

Old friendships make this a really special event.

I’m putting together two sets of blog entries: one that covers the three days as the art is being completed (coming soon and the second my versions of the art. The goal is to create images as if taken from directly above. Often that entails taking photos section by section to eliminate as much distortion as possible, then merging them in Photoshop and finally adjusting the perspectives to create the final images.

Should note that the final images represent my impression of the chalk art paintings and represent what the artist was intending to produce as best as possible.
